Opened in 1974, this E.Leclerc centre is located about twenty kilometres south of Toulouse, in the middle of a large business park. The existing building consists of a ground floor on stilts and shelters a large covered car park.
This project concerns the extension of the actual shopping centre and the creation of a 3 level open car park.
The transition between the existing building and the extension is done through a covered street which spans laterally through the shopping centre from one façade to the other.
This landscaped street creates a breathing space, a place to connect where vegetation is everywhere. Special attention is also paid to the lateral façade and the façade marking the entrance. The latter consists of a double layer of glass that allows advertisement or other signs (main photo) to be temporarily on display.
The alternating vertical bakelite wood and steel cladding gives the facades elegance and sobriety.
