The Completion and Delivery Centre in Tianjin was designed to allow the delivery in Asia of medium haul aircrafts like the A330.
In accordance with the manufacturing process, the plane will fly from Toulouse to Tianjin where the cabin and the cockpit installation will be completed. Then, it will be painted and delivered to the Chinese and Asian companies who have previously placed orders.
The complex is on the edge of Tianjin Airport, close to the existing plant which produces the A320. Both sites are also connected firstly by a logistic route allowing the connection of staff and deliveries, and then by a taxiway so the A330 aircrafts in particular can benefit from a shared infrastructure.
The existing entrance is used for the entire site. The skills of some staff can be transferred from one plant to another. For example, services like the canteen are pooled. For consistency reasons, some buildings needed by the A330 (Weighing Hall, Delivery Centre) are inserted into the existing A320 site.
Thus, the Tianjin Airbus site can be considered as a single entity allowing the production and delivery of short and medium haul aircrafts for the Chinese and Asian markets.
